On March 21, in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the bill "On the Basic Principles of State Agrarian Policy and State Policy for Rural Development" (registration number 8171) was registered. This framework law is primarily a strategy that proposes a comprehensive reform of the Ukrainian agro-industrial complex and approximation to the standards of the European Union. Preparation and registration of this extremely important draft law is an example of fruitful cooperation between the Committee on Agrarian Policy and Land Relations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food, public professional associations and European partners. Adoption of the bill will establish a solid foundation for further systemic reforms in the agrarian sector of the Ukrainian economy. In total, 29 deputies were the initiators of the project. The strategy identifies 10 priorities of the state agrarian policy in accordance with the European integration obligations, among them: food security, small producers, agro-innovation, environmental protection, forestry, employment, competitiveness, land issues, tourist attractiveness, quality of life.
